The Basque Country is made up of 7 provinces and is very rich in traditions, towns and unique villages from the north to the south through which we live. The “euskara” is our Basque language and we are happy to introduce you to it during your stay! If you decide to venture a little further inland, go through Ainhoa, Saint Pée sur Nivelle… or dive into the caves of Zugaramurdi, of Sare, Isturitz and Oxcelaya. For your gourmet moments, we will be happy to give you addresses of welcoming farms for the tasting of local products on Urrugne and its surroundings during your vacations!

Espelette an obligatory passage to fill up with peppersin all its forms. Recommended by all the great chefs, this spice is a delight to spice up all your dishes. We advise you to visit the chilli workshop in Espelette. The Wednesday morning market should definitely be on your vacation agenda. You will meet many craftsmen who will show you their products.

You will be able to take advantage of the weekly farmers’ market which will bring together craftsmen from all over the Basque Country on Monday morning. Then, to finish the day of discovery of the Basque Country, you can attend a traditional pelota game.

On the road to Pamplona/Iruña, in the province of Navarra, make tourist and gastronomic stops in typical villages such as Bera, Elizondo… Don’t miss: the pintxo-pote (aperitif-tapas) every Friday evening in Bera de Bidasoa.

VISIT THE BASQUE COAST FROM THE CAMPSITE

Visit the cities of Anglet, Biarritz and Bayonne during your day trips from the campsite in the Basque Country!
The chocolate or ham of Bayonne, the forest of Chiberta or the promenade of the Chambre d’Amour in Anglet, the stores or the famous surfing spots in Biarritz are interesting escapades.by following the coast towards the north, you will arrive in Anglet, a walkway allows you to admire often on several kilometers impressive waves. Anglet is also 250 hectares of forest, equipped with health course, ideal place for many activities, picnic, walk, sports … Stop unavoidable, it is the warm city of Bayonne! Its Basque atmosphere is authentic. Stroll between Nive and Adour, the two rivers that cross it and take the time to observe the half-timbered houses, to visit the Old Bayonne to discover the soul and the richness of the city, in particular in the Basque Museum. Guided tours, in particular on the ramparts, heritage of the fortification made by Vauban, will reveal the secrets of this city of art and history. Bayonne the gourmet was the first city to produce chocolate, 400 years ago, that’s why today in some alleys, the tempting smells of chocolate that escape from the workshops … tasting at the end!

The festivities in Bayonne are almost as famous as those in Pamplonaand are very lively. The whole family can take part in the numerous activities: the handing over of the keys of King Léon at the opening of the festivities, the Corso (parade of themed floats), the children’s day, the bandas and their lively music that parade through the streets… more lively than ever, the city lives for the festivities, especially from the Halles (market hall), which is the strategic meeting place of the festivities.
