The Basque Country, made up of 7 provinces, is very rich in traditions, towns and unique villages from the north to the south through which we live. The “euskara” is our Basque language and we are happy to introduce you to it during your stay! If you decide to venture a little further inland, stop by our campsite near Ainhoa and discover other villages such as Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle… or explore the caves of Zugarramurdi, Sare, Isturitz and Oxocelaya. For gourmet moments, we will gladly share addresses of welcoming farms where you can taste local products in Urrugne and the surrounding area during your holiday days. Espelettean obligatory passage to fill up with peppersin all its forms. Recommended by all the great chefs, this spice is a delight to spice up all your dishes. We advise you to visit the chilli workshop in Espelette. The Wednesday morning market should definitely be on your vacation agenda. You will meet many craftsmen who will show you their products.

You will be able to take advantage of the weekly farmers’ market which will bring together craftsmen from all over the Basque Country on Monday morning. Then, to finish the day of discovery of the Basque Country, you can attend a traditional pelota game.

On the road to Pamplona, near our campsite close to Irun in the province of Navarre, take tourist and gastronomic breaks in typical villages such as Bera and Elizondo… perfect for a romantic weekend. Not to be missed: pintxo-pote (aperitif with tapas) every Friday evening in Bera de Bidasoa.

VISIT THE BASQUE COAST FROM THE CAMPSITE

Visit the towns of Anglet, Biarritz and Bayonne on day trips from your campsite in the Basque Country!
Bayonne ham or chocolate, the Chiberta forest or the Chambre d’Amour promenade in Anglet, the shops and famous surf spots in Biarritz all make for great outings.

Following thecoastline to the north, you will arrive in Anglet, where you can admire the impressive waves for several kilometers.

Anglet is also 250 hectares of forest, equipped with health course, ideal place for many activities, picnic, walk, sports … Stop unavoidable, it is the warm city of Bayonne!

Its Basque atmosphere is authentic.

Wildlife of the Basque Country

Stroll between the Nive and Adour rivers that run through the city, take time to admire the half-timbered houses, and visit Old Bayonne to discover the soul and treasures of the city, especially at the Basque Museum. Guided tours, particularly along the ramparts inherited from Vauban’s fortifications, reveal the secrets of this city of art and history.

Gourmet Bayonne was the first chocolate-making city 400 years ago, which explains why enticing chocolate aromas still drift through certain streets today… with tastings to enjoy!

The festivities in Bayonneare almost as famous as those in Pamplonaand are very lively. The whole family can take part in the numerous activities: the handing over of the keys of King Léon at the opening of the festivities, the Corso (parade of themed floats), the children’s day, the bandas and their lively music that parade through the streets… more lively than ever, the city lives for the festivities, especially from the Halles (market hall), which is the strategic meeting place of the festivities.
